What is a Wooden Nesting Table? A wooden nesting table is simply a square table with a wooden frame on top and a small hole where you can place the nest of your bird. A great option for small bird owners and bird lovers as it is light and can be kept outside in any weather condition; however, a wooden nest table is not something that a beginner would want to buy and it takes a lot of time and patience to build.
First of all, you will need to cut the frame in half the size of the table you want to place a nest on. Then you need to line the bottom part of the frame with wood glue or double sided tape. The first thing you have to do is glue down the bottom piece of the frame and it needs to be at least 3 inches longer than the nesting material you are going to use. The second thing you have to do is to attach the nesting material, i.e.
Checkmate and the nest will soon be placed in the frame. Next you need to place some wooden dowels in the holes of the frame. You have to make sure that you cover the dowels with wood glue and leave enough space for the nesting material to slide in and out easily. After this, you can add two hinges to the end of the dowels and these should be fixed in place using screws and caulk. You can also add a string and put a hook on it to hang the string and the nest on. Lastly, you need to add the nest to the frame. Once everything is placed and fixed in place, you can use wooden dowels to hang the nest and checkmate from the bottom portion of the frame.
